And in the meanwhile businesses continue to lose

Blockades on the Bulgarian-Greek border continue for a third week in a row. Protests of Greek farmers continue to be damaging for Bulgarian transporters and the business as a whole.

According to local sources, the total loss of the strike so far is estimated at 15 million euro.

Is the Greek government powerless?

The Hellenic Republic has unsuccessfully sought to reach an agreement with farmers. Even external parties have failed to resolve the problem.

For example, the European Commission (EC) seemed powerless to address the issue. Even, the Bulgarian Prime Minister tried to resolve the predicament, talking to the strike farmers, evidently without success. All parties directly affected by the slowdown have to wait for the courtesy of the dissatisfied people.

Results:

- More than 500 trucks stuck in a 10 km line as they wait to cross the border;

- Significant losses for both Bulgarian and Greek import-export companies;

- Increased likelihood of ensuing insolvencies;
