Analysis of TheBeginner.eu surveys

by Dimitar Apostolov

On May 13, 2010 TheBeginner.eu inquired our readers about the ideal job. The results of the survey clearly indicated the profile of the typical magazine reader.

57% of the website visitors indicated that they prefer work in the private sector, 32% in public institutions, and 11% in NGOs. This outcome clearly indicates that the main target audience of the website are business-oriented readers from the private sector. It is also noteworthy that a third of respondents would like to work for a public institution. This trend may be on the rise given the economic insecurity in the private market. The 11% who would like to work for NGOs are representative for s similar proportion of the population interested in the non-profit sector. Members of this “corrective arm of capitalism” will play a crucial role in designing a new, more resilient financial organisation. It is interesting that no respondents are interested to pursue a career in sports or craftsmanship. This result indicates that readers interested in these fields professionally are less likely to delve into the nitty-gritty of business.

On June 27, 2010 TheBeginner.eu polled our readers about their perception of the status of the world financial crisis. Opinions seemed to be divided, as economic certainty still depends on the business sector or country where individuals work.

37% of respondents consider that except for a few minor future shocks, the crisis is behind our backs. 26% can not judge at this point, while 11% expect some major shocks in the future. It is surprising that almost a third of respondents predict the demise of the capitalist system as we know it. No respondents considered the economic trouble could already be forgotten. This mosaic picture indicates well the feeling among businesses that the crisis is a very serious one and it will take a persistent effort to re-design the financial models of the past.

In this seemingly grim perspective, the visitors who look forward to employment in the private and public sector may have to reconsider their options. Entrepreneurship and a return to self-employment may be temporary shelters before the economic storm is finally over.

Now, we would like to redirect your attention to our new survey that you can find on our homepage: How do you invest your income?
