How Has The Economic Crisis Affected Your Summer Plans?
In March 2010 TheBeginner.eu enquired about its readers’ vacation plans in the wake of the world financial crisis.

The goal of the survey was to determine whether TheBeginner.eu readers are resilient to the recent financial trouble and how the hardship would affect their vacation plans. The results of the survey confirm hypotheses from previous surveys regarding TheBeginner.eu readers’ social class and educational background.
40% of the website visitors responded that the crisis will not affect their vacation plans. Tied at second place are three other alternatives with 18% each (each choice indicating the change significance of plans). Last, 6% of readers claimed the crisis will entirely change their vacation arrangements.
The prevalent opinion that crisis will have no effect on vacation plans indicates that the majority of TheBeginner.eu readers have either not been affected at all or very little from the recent financial trouble. This confirms results of previous surveys (e.g. on global warming) that TheBeginner.eu readers are most likely, well-educated, and are situated high enough in the work hierarchy to avoid the grass root employment shocks the crisis caused.
It is interesting to note the equal number of respondents who claim the economic hardship will have some effect on their vacation plans. If all these categories are taken together, they account for the majority of respondents. This illustrates that despite the security of good education and excellent job placement, TheBeginner.eu readers are not entirely immune to what happens in the market and demonstrates the gravity of the current economic challenges. Finally, it is important to note that only a few TheBeginner.eu readers will dramatically alter their vacation plans. This shows it would take a crisis of much higher magnitude to seriously disrupt the lifestyle of TheBeginner.eu readers.
